Reliable sourcing is central to the way Local Weekly Paper is rebuilding its coverage.
Source priority
We generally prioritize original or primary material: government and regulatory websites, court records, public records, official company or organization statements, published research, and source datasets. Reputable news organizations may be used to confirm developments or provide context, especially when primary documents are not yet available.
Verification
Names, dates, locations, numerical claims, quotations, and legal status should be checked before publication. For current events, we look for recent confirmation and avoid relying on old summaries when a newer official source is available.
Quotations
We do not invent quotations. Quotes should be traceable to a named source, public statement, filing, transcript, recording, or other verifiable record.
Links and transparency
When practical, articles link readers to official pages or documents that support important claims. Sources are selected for reliability and relevance, not because they agree with a predetermined conclusion.
